Compaq, the world's fourth largest computer company which announced plans for a 550 job call centre in Dublin earlier this week, said last night that its European sales rose 12 per cent last year to $6 billion (£4 billion). The rise was driven by a strong fourth quarter and solid gains in portable PC and server sales, the company added.
