BUSINESS PARK developer Rohan Holdings is building a new aircraft simulator-based training facility for Simtech Aviation Ltd at Dublin AirPort Logistics Park in north Dublin.

The bespoke facility with 1,861sq m (20,029sq ft) will cost Simtech Aviation Ltd close to the asking price of €3.5 million.

Simtech Aviation, soon to relocate from Dublin Airport, provides a range of training services to both domestic and international airline personnel and to simulator engineers. The development of Kestrel House for Simtech will bring the volume of completed space in the 150-acre park up to 46,450sq m (500,000sq ft).

Other major occupiers are logistics firm DHL which occupies 14,492sq m (152,000sq ft); book and newspaper distributor Eason Son which has 16,722sq m (180,000sq ft); and Frank Flanagan Fittings which recently moved into a new headquarters and distribution centre of 4,087sq m (44,000sq ft).

Se Pardy of Simtech said the company decided to relocate to the park because of its strategic location adjacent to Dublin Airport and the M50, together with the dedicated private access on to the M2. It was also beneficial for Simtech to be adjacent to leading international brands. Corporate image was critical for every business, he said, and the park excelled in this regard.

The AirPort Logistics Park is the seventh business park in north Dublin developed by Rohan Holdings over the past 30 years. The company has also been responsible for a number of parks in south Dublin while in the city centre it developed the Grand Canal Plaza office project beside Grand Canal Dock.

Colliers Jackson-Stops is handling the marketing of the AirPort Logistics Park where buildings range in size from 1,500 to 4,000sq m (16,146 to 43,056sq ft). The agents say that, despite the current economic climate, they are continuing to get a strong level of interest and two further deals were at an advanced stage.
