SiteSales: The Dublin fashion retailer Sean Barron has secured €22 million for his home and gardens in Killiney which are likely to be redeveloped as a housing scheme.

Barron, who runs the highly successful Pamela Scott and Flairline Fashions businesses, has been living for many years at Broadlands, a handsome six-bedroom house on 2.82 acres opposite the entrance to Killiney Golf Club.

It has well kept gardens laid out in lawns and mature trees along the main boundary. The site backs on to Cluny Park and has extensive frontage on to Ballinaclea Road.

Mark Reynolds of Hamilton Osborne King, who handled the sale - it was bought by a Cork developer - said he expected that the new owner would get planning permission for a mixed-use scheme of apartments, townhouses and duplexes. The site is likely to accommodate at least 100 apartments.

Meanwhile, a Victorian house at 91 Belmont Avenue, Donnybrook, Dublin 4, with gardens extending to 0.65 of an acre failed to sell at tender and Lisney is now quoting €15 million. It is a fairly modest four-bedroom house adjoining what originally was a market garden. The walled site backs onto the playing grounds of Muckross College. The site is likely to be used for an apartment development.

In Co Wicklow, a site of 112.5 acres with full planning permission for 156 homes overlooking Wicklow town failed to sell at tender. Hamilton Osborne King is in negotiations with a number of developers for the site which is likely to make over €20 million.
