The eclipse of politics in Britain by the rise to power of the financial markets and international business was powered by a core group of economic buccaneers and adventurers according to The Mayfair Set: Who Pays Wins (Sunday, 8.00 p.m., BBC2).

Peter Barry is interviewed by John Bowman on Witness (Sunday, 10.40 p.m., RTE 1). Mr Barry's Dail career began in 1969 and he was successfully re-elected in every general election that followed. He retired from politics in 1997. He has been Tanaiste, Lord Mayor of Cork and a minister in four government departments.

Antiques Watch (Monday, 8.30 p.m., RTE 1) is a new series presented by Harry Crosbie, Helen Dillon and Jim Smyth. It will include visits to the houses of collectors of art, furniture and silverware and advice on restoration and valuing.

Bosses who got their hands dirty in a BAFTA award-winning documentary series return in Back to the Floor. . . Again: Back on Site (Tuesday, 8.00 p.m., BBC2). It updates its previous programmes to see what happened when the bosses went back into their offices. Multi-millionaire house builder, Tony Pidgley, returns to the building site one year after the original programme was made.
