ALLIED Irish Bank has appointed Mr Mathias DeVito as non executive director.

He has been a director of AIB's US subsidiary, First Maryland Bancorp, for more than 20 years. He is chairman of The Rouse Company and of Empower Baltimore Management Corporation and a director of US Air Group.

Mr DeVito's career is currently in real estate but he has also had a long legal career and once served as assistant attorney general for the state of Maryland.
