Dalata to open its first hotel in the Netherlands with Hard Rock deal

Company agrees deal with Zien Group to acquire operator of the four-star Amsterdam hotel

Hotel group Dalata has agreed a deal with Zien Group to acquire the operator of the Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam American, giving it a leasehold interest in the hotel.

The deal, which is expected to complete next month, will see the hotel group begin operating as the Clayton Hotel Amsterdam American. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 173-bedroom four-star hotel is located in Amsterdam’s central culture and entertainment district.

This will be Dalata’s first in the Netherlands and its second in continental Europe.

Dalata is Ireland’s largest hotel operator, and has been growing its presence in the UK and continental Europe. It has 52 three- and four-star hotels in its portfolio, comprising more than 11,200 rooms with a pipeline of over 1,100.

The company is seeking to establish a presence in large commercially attractive European cities.

In February, Dalata bought its first hotel that would trade under the Maldron brand in London, in a deal worth close to €50 million. A few months later, it announced a deal to acquire the long leasehold interest of the Apex Hotel London Wall for £53.4 million.
