Helping professionals to navigate legal issues around social media and media

An Advanced Diploma in Social Media and Media Law at King’s Inns provides valuable insights into the current and emerging legal issues within the communications, entertainment, broadcast, print and online disciplines

The area of social media and media law is very much an evolving environment and presents emerging issues, mainly due to advances in communications technology. Open to those working in communications and delivered by leading industry experts, including specialist solicitors and barristers practising in this area, as well experts involved in press regulation, broadcasting and journalismthe course will cover the legal framework impacting social media and media law in Ireland in an ever-changing environment.

Previous students have commented on how interactive each lecture is, in particular for the non-legal professional, discussing how Irish and EU law might affect the way we generate content for the various forms of publication. Students particularly enjoyed the Q&A sessions between expert speakers and course participants, where they discussed recent legislation and court cases, and how it might impact the media industry going forward.

“This course will be of interest to those working in social media, those working in digital marketing, communications and PR, writers, journalists, producers, bloggers, in–house counsel, those working in the newspaper and broadcasting industries, data protection lawyers and barristers/solicitors working in the public and private sector together with anyone in the entertainment or media industries,” says Dr Sarah Fennell BL, the course coordinator for this course.
