MUNSTER JFC:A STORMING second-half display by Limerick earned them a 0-15 to 1-8 victory over 14-man Tipperary in the Munster junior football first round at Thurles yesterday.
Tipperary led at the interval by 1-6 to 0-4, Benny Hickey finishing a fine four-man move to the net.
But two minutes into the second half, the game changed. Tipp defender Pa Morrissey was red carded for a heavy tackle on Limerick’s Mike McMahon and Limerick took full control of the match from then on.
In yesterday’s other first-round tie, Cork recovered from a slow start to record a comfortable 1-14 to 1-4 victory over Waterford in Dungarvan.
Waterford scored an early goal to take a shock lead, but Fiachra Lynch soon responded by claiming a goal for Cork and, at the break, the visitors led 1-6 to 1-1.
Cork then eased to victory in the second half.
Next up . . .
Similiar to senior set-up, on June 7th, Cork meet Kerry in Killarney and Limerick play Clare in Ennis.
