Winning streak

Playing great consistent golf over the past 12 months, Beaufort's Laura Furlong proved that her win in the Golfer of the Year was no fluke by continuing her winning streak just before Christmas at the Killarney course. In successive days, the 27-handicapper was twice in the winners' enclosure. She won a turkey competition, pipping 20-handicapper Catherine O'Donoghue, who strangely enough the following day went one better, winning the eight-hole hamper competition, where Furlong was third with Margaret O'Sullivan (23) finishing second.
