WEXFORD'S footballers managed to put their dismal league form behind them when they knocked out holders Wicklow in the first round of the O'Byrne Cup at Wexford Park yesterday.

However, Wicklow will rue a missed opportunity one minute into injury time to bring the game into extra time when Conan Daye curled a 35 yard free wide of the right hand post.

For Wexford, it would have been difficult to accept given their first half dominance when they completely controlled the game following a tremendous start.
