Women's Football NFL: Reigning champions Cork staged a dramatic second-half comeback to earn a narrow Women's National Football League Division One B win over Galway in Tuam yesterday, 0-10 to 0-9.

Cork, reigning league and All-Ireland champions, trailed 0-3 to 0-7 at half-time but they battled back with Angela Walsh kicking the winner in the dying seconds.

Galway started the game strongly and points from Gillian Joyce (2), Niamh Duggan and Lorna Joyce put them 0-4 to 0-0 ahead.

Cork's first point arrived in the 22nd minute from a Nollaig Cleary free.

Galway responded with a two points from Ann-Marie McDonagh and Annette Clarke but Cork clawed their way back with scores from Geraldine O'Flynn and Juliet Murphy before the break.

Cork burst out of the blocks on the resumption with three successive points - two from Regina Curtin and one from Rena Buckley - reducing the deficit.

The sides swapped scores thereafter before three late points by Cork - the winning one coming from the boot of Walsh.

Meanwhile, Meath beat Roscommon in the other Division One B clash of the afternoon with a comprehensive 2-19 to 0-5 victory in Walterstown.

In Division One A, Mayo came away from Kilcummin with a 0-18 to 0-12 win over Kerry while managerless Dublin lost away to Waterford, 3-11 to 0-13.

In Division Two A, Sligo annihilated Limerick 6-12 to 0-3 while Laois beat Louth 6-9 to 2-4 in Stradbally. Tipperary accounted for Wexford, 2-9 to 1-10, in Division Two B while in Division Three A Leitrim were too strong for Carlow, 4-12 to 2-1. Finally, Wicklow beat Kilkenny 2-14 to 2-2 in their Division Three B clash at Dunlavin.

In Camogie, UL will play UCC and Waterford IT will take on UCD in the Colleges' Ashbourne Cup semi-finals after defeating Mary Immaculate, Limerick, Garda College, Cork IT and NUI Galway, respectively.
