One of the most celebrated hurlers of modern times, English has little managerial experience, although he coached DCU in the Fitzgibbon Cup. His playing career finished with the Munster final replay defeat by Limerick in 1996. He lives in Dublin where he works with AIB.

A successful club coaching career continues with Tipperary club JK Brackens and has included taking Birr to an All-Ireland final in 1992. Hogan has also been involved with the Garda College's Fitzgibbon team and was a Tipperary selector with Tom Fogarty between 1994-96.

A surprise choice, Bergin, who captained Tipperary to the Open Draw Cup in 1985 and in the Munster final that same year, coached at his original club Moycarkey-Borris, with both the intermediate and senior teams, before moving to Killenaule, where he lives, four years ago as player-coach.
