GOLF: FRENCHMAN Thomas Levet was deeply appreciative he was able to unhook his smart phone from his bag and capture a picture of the cliffs down by the sixth hole here – known as Harry Colt's after the original designer – at Royal Portrush.

“Pretty,” opined Levet, which made quite a contrast to his physical state on Monday when he was forced to withdraw from the British Open International qualifying at Sunningdale after some dirt from a divot flew into his eye and he received medical attention.

It’s been an accident prone season so far for Levet, who twice turned up for tournaments – in back-to-back weeks in Korea and Spain – only to discover that his clubs had been lost in transit. Thankfully for Levet, his eye injury proved to be minor. And he can put his eyesight to good use over the Dunluce track taking snapshots and, of course, taking aim at the flagsticks when the serious business gets under way tomorrow.
