Sepp Blatter, Michel Platini and the head of the European Parliament have agreed to further talks over FIFA's controversial "six-plus-five" proposal.
Blatter, the president of world football's governing body, and Platini, his equivalent at UEFA, met Parliament president Hans-Gert Pottering in Brussels yesterday for initial discussions on the plan.
It followed the recent passing of a motion geared towards imposing quotas for homegrown players on professional clubs by the FIFA congress.
The main sticking point for the proposal is its contravention of European anti discrimination laws which insist that nationality cannot be a barrier to employment.
After Blatter and Platini outlined the objectives of the plan to Pottering, all parties agreed to further talks on an as yet unspecified date.
