Southampton forward Armando Broja is back in contention after missing two matches with an ankle problem. Midfielder Moussa Djenepo also returns to the squad leaving defender Jack Stephens (knee) as the only absentee.

Ezri Konsa is suspended for Villa, meaning a likely recall for Tyrone Mings, and Danny Ings (muscle injury) has lost his battle to return against his former club. Jacob Ramsey (ankle) could be fit while Morgan Sanson returns to contention after recovering from Covid-19. Douglas Luiz (muscle injury) remains out.

Paul Pogba serves the second game of a three-match domestic ban but Fred should return in midfield.

City centre-back Aymeric Laporte is suspended after being sent off in last week’s loss to Crystal Palace. Manager Pep Guardiola will also check on Kyle Walker (foot) while winger Ferran Torres (foot) is City’s only other notable absentee.

Burnley winger Aaron Lennon is a doubt due to illness. Otherwise, boss Sean Dyche looks set to have an unchanged group of players to choose from with Dale Stephens not yet ready to make his first-team return after injury.

Aaron Connolly (heel) should return but Danny Welbeck (hamstring) and Steven Alzate (ankle) remain out.

Defender Paul Dummett is Newcastle’s only absentee as he continues his recovery from a calf problem. Slovakia keeper Martin Dubravka was an unused substitute for last weekend’s defeat by Chelsea following his return from a foot injury and is now competing with Karl Darlow for a starting berth.

Francisco Sierralta and Kiko Femenia have returned to training after recent injuries while fellow defender Christian Kabasele has continued his recovery from a hamstring strain.
