Manchester City captain Richard Dunne was disappointed his side failed to extend their 100 per cent record in the group stages of the Uefa Cup. After beating FC Twente and Schalke, City found Paris St Germain a different proposition and difficult to break down in a 0-0 draw at Eastlands.

The result means Mark Hughes's side will finish at least second in Group A going into the final match against Racing Santander in Spain in two weeks.

"We will go there with confidence even though we were not sharp enough in the first half tonight," Dunne told ITV4. "It was a tough game. They set up really well and we never got the right tempo. That doesn't help the forwards.

"They are a good side but it was only in the last 15 minutes they came at us."

City could have put the game to bed in the first quarter but Daniel Sturridge and Darius Vassell both squandered opportunities.

Hughes said: "We had half chances to get on the scoresheet but it was a frustrating night.

"We have performed better in other games. However this is a new experience for us. European games are a different test and a different problem we have to solve.

"We will be the better for the experience of going up against a good European side like PSG. It is important for our development.

"PSG defended well and played on the counter attack. We were a bit over-committed in trying to get the winning goal. That was the only time they looked a danger."

City will assess the fitness of Brazil winger Elano later today after he pulled up with a groin injury amid fears that he could be out for at least two week.

PSG head coach Paul Le Guen, formerly of Rangers, was disappointed that his side had failed to achieve the victory he felt they deserved.

"We were a little bit over-awed at the start as we all know City are a good side," he said. "But in the second half we played much better and we had a lot of chances to win the match.

"It is a concern that we did not take them and that means 180 minutes without a goal after our defeat by Rennes."

Meanwhile injured trio Robinho (ankle), Shaun Wright-Phillips (knee) and Micah Richards (ankle) could be available for the Premier League match against Fulham on Saturday after sitting out the Uefa Cup encounter.
