Soccer:Chelsea have completed the signing of Barcelona midfielder Oriol Romeu on a four year deal. The 19 year old midfielder is currently in Colombia on World Cup duty with Spain's Under 20s and will arrive at Stamford Bridge later this month. He will challenge to fill the void left by Michael Essien who is currently sidelined.

The English club are believed to have paid €5.75 million up front but the fee could rise to around €9 million. New Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas said recently: “It is a part of the squad in which we are struggling with numbers because of Michael Essien’s injury and Oriol is a player with a bright future. He still has to evolve as a player.”

Romeu made his senior debut for Barcelona at the end of last season and has played the full 90 minutes of the underage Spanish national side’s two matches in Colombia.
