Karl-Heinz Rummenigge claims Ruud van Nistelrooy has informed Bayern Munich of his intention to play for the German club.

Van Nistelrooy has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after an end-of-season row with manager Alex Ferguson, with Real Madrid and Bayern leading the chase.

Rummenigge is Bayern's general director and claims the striker has been in talks with the Bundesliga club.

"Van Nistelrooy has told us he would like to play for us next season," Rummenigge told a German newspaper.

"We have already spoken about money with him but it would be United who will finally decide."
