IAN SMITH has become the latest injury casualty of Scotland's tour of South Africa.
Craig Chalmers and Rowen Shepherd have already had their tours cut short by injury and Smith has now succumbed to a back injury.
Smith's replacement is New Zealander Nick Broughton. Broughton, who brings the number of Kiwis in the Scots' party to three, has been named in the Scotland team to face Gauteng Falcons at Brakpan tomorrow night.
Also making first tour appearances are centre Jamie Mayer and lock Andy Lucking. The crucial out half position goes to Scott Nichol.
Meanwhile English rugby chiefs last night began the search for another major sponsor, after Save and Prosper withdrew their support of Twickenham internationals.
The investment company have ended a 12 year association with top flight English rugby.
It follows recent similar announcements by domestic backers Pilkington and league supporters Courage, although a new multi million pound Allied Dunbar Premiership will kick off on August 23rd.
In Australia full back Matthew Burke has gained an immediate recall for the second Test against France at Ballymore on Saturday after recovering from a groin injury.
Australia coach Greg Smith named Burke as the only change to the side which beat the Five Nations champions 29-15 in the first Test on Saturday.
Burke's return means reserve winger Mitch Hardy is likely to lose his seat on the bench at Ballymore despite scoring the two tries that lifted Australia to victory in the first Test.
