Chris Whitaker and Cameron Jowitt return to the squad for Sunday's Heineken Cup trip to Edinburgh as Michael Cheika's side seek to build on their promising start to the campaign.
Both missed the win over Gloucester with shoulder injuries but have been included in an extended 27-man squad for the match at Murrayfield.
Whether they will be able to dislodge their replacements is another matter, after both Cillian Willis and Stephen Keogh turned in accomplished displays against the English side.
Willis, making his first start for Leinster, was singled out for particular praise by Cheika but will probably find himself back on the bench if Whitaker is fully fit, while Keogh may have the more pressing case for a starting role, having operated well alongside Jamie Heaslip and Keith Gleeson and adding a try for good measure.
"Neither Chris (Whitaker) nor Cameron (Jowitt) are fully fit at the moment but both of them are much closer (in terms of selection) this week," said Cheika today.
"With the game being on Sunday, we've got an extra day to monitor their progress. Chris is back in full training and Cameron is back today.
"We've worked hard on our strength and depth (in the squad). Stephen Keogh was unlucky to be left out of the Munster game but he took it in his stride, which is what you want. I wouldn't want guys to be happy missing out on matches. But even if it's the wrong call to make, you've just gotta wear it."
Luke Fitzgerald, called into the Ireland training squad for the autumn internationals yesterday, is again in contention to make his European debut.
Himself and Rob Kearney have impressed Cheika with their maturity of late, but the Australian is not taking his eye off them.
"The likes of Rob and Luke are very mature. They don't shy away from hard work and have a strong work ethic. There's no real parenting involved.
"When they want advice, all they have to do is ask. And if they don't want advice, then I'll just give it to them anyway."
Cheika will hold off finalising his starting line-up until Friday afternoon.
