Paddy Wallace is the only uncapped player to make the cut as Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan trimmed his squad ahead of next week's autumn international against South Africa.
While admitting he would use the matches against the Springboks, Australia and the Pacific Islands as an opportunity to blood new talent in the run-up to next year's World Cup, O'Sullivan is adamant he is targetting a clean sweep of wins and has announced a largely tried-and-tested selection.
"I'm keeping one eye on the World Cup and am considering a bit more depth in the squad, certainly in some positions. There are new faces and I would like to use the three games to get more people on the pitch," explained the Ireland coach.
"Having said that, I'm not going out with the attitude that it's an experiment - it's not. We want to win the three test matches, but we have more elbow room."
That means there is no place, at this stage at least, for up-and-coming Leinster wing Luke Fitzgerald and highly regarded backrows Stephen Ferris and Jamie Heaslip who were all included in the initial training squad.
Despite having made over 150 appearances for Ulster, Wallace has yet to make the breakthrough at full international level but his versatility in the backline and his ability to provide back-up to Ronan O'Gara at outhalf is an obvious bonus.
His Ulster teammate Bryan Young is also a relative newcomer having won both of his caps during the summer tour of Australia and New Zealand.
"The first game (against South Africa) will tell us a lot about how we are and hopefully we'll have more room for manoeuvring over the course of the three games," added O'Sullivan.
Injury concerns over captain Brian O'Driscoll (ankle) and win Andrew Trimble (hamstring) have not prevented both being included in the squad.
Frankie Sheahan, who has recovered from a career-threatening neck injury, continued his comeback with inclusion in the squad to face the Springboks at Lansdowne Road.
All of Ireland's Triple Crown-winning line-up feature in the 22, except for Munster hooker Jerry Flannery who is out until Christmas with a shoulder injury. O'Sullivan will name his starting line-up next Tuesday.
