Galway captured their second ever Connacht FBD league title when they came from behind to beat the home side in a highly-entertaining final at Hyde Park yesterday.

If Roscommon dominated the first half to lead 1-8 to 0-6 at the break, then Galway were equally impressive when backed by the strong breeze in the second half.

The winners had Shay Walsh, one of their most influential players, sent off for an off-the-ball incident with Paul Noone shortly after the restart.

However, as is often the case, the sending off seemed to rally Galway and they went on to totally control the second half.

Galway's crucial score came midway through the second half when man of the match Derek Savage calmly scored a goal from the penalty spot.

Roscommon impressed in the first half, and Conor Connelly, Stephen Lohan, Peter Mahon and Fergal O'Donnell scored some delightful points.

Their goal came after five minutes when an Eddie Lohan cross was fisted to the net by Alan Nolan.
