An injury-time try by flanker Sam Pollock gave Wesley College a 17-13 victory over St Andrew’s College at Maynooth yesterday and a place in the Leinster Schools’ Vinnie Murray Senior Cup final.

St Andrew’s had a number of penalty decisions going against them and clung to a 13-12 lead from a Luke de Renzy penalty in the 49th minute.

They built up a 10-0 advantage from a well-conceived try by centre Gary Fearon and five points from the boot of De Renzy by the 17th minute.

However, Wesley worked their way back into contention on the back of a try by replacement Luke Madeley and captain Andrew Walsh. De Renzy restored the lead as a final quarter frenzy ensued, but Pollock had the strength to make the line two minutes into injury-time.
