A second-half masterclass from Na Fianna's attack helped the Mobhi Road club beat St Brigid's to claim the Dublin senior football title at Parnell Park on Saturday.

It was the club's third county title in-a-row, and they could hardly have had an easier match in those years, as they dominated here. The game was won in midfield, with Kieran McGeeney and Karl Donnelly laying the foundations for Dublin forwards Dessie Farrell, Senan Connell and Jason Sherlock to strike.

After a shaky start, Na Fianna took control, with Farrell and Connell notching up scores. Their first goal came after 22 minutes when McGeeney's shot was only parried our as far as Sherlock who made no mistake from inside the square.

St Brigid's threatened a comeback when Colin McGlynn punched home Declan Darcy's free kick just before half-time to narrow the lead to five points.

Early in the second half they missed two glorious chances to level the match. First, Ken Kilmurray pointed with the goal at his mercy, and, soon afterwards, Darcy sliced wide with just Na Fianna goalkeeper Stephen Gray to beat.

The Blanchardstown side's heads clearly dropped after these misses, and Na Fianna wrapped up the match when Des Macken scored a goal after being played in by Farrell.

Ian Foley had a goal disallowed soon after, before substitute Joe Hagan rounded off a fine move chipping Colm Boyle for Na Fianna's third goal.
