Moynihan, Ó Cinnéide get starting positions

Kerry football manager Jack O'Connor was hardly reacting to the Cork team selection, but his changes from the Munster semi-final victory over Limerick are in the same areas his counterpart, Billy Morgan, has reshuffled.

Last year's All-Ireland-winning captain Dara Ó Cinnéide comes back in at full forward, where he will be marshalled by Graham Canty, who moves back from centrefield. Injury to Paddy Kelly means Eoin Brosnan partners Darragh Ó Sé at midfield.

Brosnan played centre forward against Limerick with captain Declan O'Sullivan at full forward, but O'Connor felt the need to spread his scoring threats into both lines of attack as Colm Cooper was the only forward to score from play the last day.

Another player returning to the starting line-up is Séamus Moynihan at centre back. The Glenflesk man has recovered from an ankle injury that kept him out of the Tipperary and Limerick games and starts his first championship match since last year's 0-15 to 0-9 victory over Cork in the Munster semi-final.

Meanwhile, Dinny Cahill has stepped down as Antrim hurling manager. The Tipperary native abandoned a training session at Casement Park on Tuesday night when only 12 players togged out.

Cahill's departure leaves selectors Malachy Elliott, Joe Edwards and trainer Noel Brick in charge for the final qualifier against Laois this Saturday, which will be followed by a relegation play-off.

It is a shambolic end to a decent four-year reign that saw the Ulster title retained each season and included two respectable performances at Croke Park, against Tipperary (2002) and Wexford (2003).

However, the current panel's best years seemed to have passed when they lost heavily to Cork in last year's All-Ireland quarter-finals after Cahill made disparaging remarks about several opposing players in the build-up.

A poor league campaign followed. They beat only Dublin and drew with Laois before losing heavily to Limerick and Galway in the opening rounds of the new qualifier system, sliding into a battle to retain their Liam McCarthy Cup status.

"When Dinny arrived at training only 12 players were out on the pitch with him," said an Antrim spokesman. "He gave the others a half an hour to turn up, but eventually gave up due to the lack of commitment, especially considering he travels four hours there and four hours home for each session."

Several players have become disillusioned in recent months, but captain Jim Connolly and most first-team players were present on Tuesday night. Any chance of Cahill returning appears unlikely as it is the second time he has walked out - over lack of player commitment.

Mayo forward Peadar Gardiner is winning his race to be fit from a knee injury sustained four weeks ago, so Keith Higgins (dislocated elbow) is the only Mayo player unavailable for Sunday's Connacht final. John Maughan announces his team today.

Limerick show four changes in personnel from the team which beat Laois for the visit of Galway in Saturday's All-Ireland hurling qualifier at the Gaelic Grounds.

Out go Damien Reale, Kevin Tobin, Donnacha Sheehan and Conor Fitzgerald, replaced by Michael Clifford, Mark Foley, Pat Kirby and Peter Lawlor.

The draw for the All-Ireland hurling quarter-finals will take place live on RTÉ 2 this Sunday evening at half-time in the deferred showing of the Ulster final. The draw for the first round of the Tommy Murphy Cup will also be shown at this time.
