Moran ban is upheld as Ó Sé gets off

NEWS:DUBLIN'S COLIN Moran has failed in his appeal against a four-week suspension imposed by the GAA's Central Hearings Committee (CHC).

Moran was suspended after match referee Pádraig Hughes upgraded a yellow card shown to the player for a clash with Westmeath's Dermot Bannon to a red card when asked to review the incident on video.

The Central Appeals Committee (CAC) found there has been no clear infringement or misapplication of rule by the CHC nor had Moran's right to a fair hearing been compromised to such extent that a clear injustice has occurred.

Moran's last hope of getting the suspension lifted and being available for the Leinster final against Wexford on Sunday week lies with arbitration before the Disputes Resolution Authority.

On the same evening Kerry's Marc Ó Sé had better luck at the CHC when it was decided the player, who had been sent off and reported by the referee arising from an incident in the Munster football final last weekend when he collided with Cork's Seán O'Brien, was cleared of the charge by the CHC.

This clears Ó Sé, the 2007 Footballer of the Year, to play for the All-Ireland champions, who lost their Munster title to Cork, in this year's qualifiers.
