Wesley College and Loreto, Bray, will meet in next month's Esat Digiphone Leinster Schools' Senior League final after winning their respective semi-finals at Grange Road yesterday on 1-0 scorelines.

Lynne Beck got the goal, two minutes into the second half, which gave Wesley victory over Loreto, Foxrock, who they also beat in last year's final. Laura McCoy's reverse stick shot was saved by Maria Lalor, but Beck was first to the rebound to force the ball home.

It was, on balance, a deserved victory for the cup holders who won 10 corners to Foxrock's three but, like the day's second semi-final, there was little to choose between the teams.

It took a piece of superb individual play from Linda O'Neill to break the deadlock between Loreto, Bray, and Mount Anville when the Irish under-18 international set up the game's only goal for Bray captain Leah Spillane, just four minutes from time.

O'Neill worked her way to the end line down the right, skipping past three defenders, and cut the ball back for Spillane, who kept her composure to sweep it in to the bottom left corner of the goal.
