Members of Kilmallock GAA club will next Monday vote to decide whether to vacate Fitzgerald Park and allow the six-acre site to be sold and redeveloped.

The ground, set in the heart of the Co Limerick town, has been the centre of many debates over the past couple of months and according to one member, Patricia O'Dwyer, whose family have a long association with the club, opinions are sharply divided.

"I won't hide that I am totally against selling our field to a developer," she said.

The developer, John Brown, has offered a €2.5 million for the ground, plus a six-acre greenfield site a few hundred metres away, on which he proposes to develop three playing pitches and other amenities for the club.
