A look at some of the games ahead

Switzerland v Portugal Sunday, 7.45, Basle:With Portugal's place in the last eight secure, Felipe Scolari is bound to rest players against the Swiss tomorrow evening with the likes of Miguel, Nani and Ricardo Quaresma all in with a strong prospect of starting the game.

Kobi Kuhn, meanwhile, must decide whether he should aid the development of some fringe players by giving them a taste of the action or push for a victory that would soften the blow of the host nation's disappointing early exit from the competition.

In front of another packed house in Basle, he will probably feel the need to sign off with a win if he can. Philippe Senderos has been struggling a little in training and there may be the chance for his young Arsenal team-mate Johan Djourou to impress. - EMMET MALONE

Spain v Sweden Saturday, 5pm, Innsbruck:SPAIN STRIKER Fernando Torres has denied he was angry with coach Luis Aragones for taking him off in the teams 4-1 win against Russia in their opening game.I was angry with myself and it isnt true I refused to shake the coachs hand, Torres said yesterday. Luis was six metres away from me, we werent that close and I would never show any disrespect to a coach. I know I cant get angry for more than 30 seconds when Ive got team-mates next to me who didnt play (in the game) at all.

Torres is almost certain to be in the starting line-up today.

Sweden must avoid lapses of concentration to have a chance of upsetting Spain, said coach Lars Lagerback. We know when Spain have the ball and play well, in terms of technical ability and passing, they are one of the best sides in the world.

Russia v Greece Saturday, 7.45, Salzburg:RUSSIAS STRUGGLING striker Roman Pavlyuchenko trained yesterday and coach Guus Hiddink said he would decide today if he was fit to face Greece in their Group D match this evening.

Russias strike force is already weakened by the unavailability of Andrei Arshavin and Pavel Pogrebnyak and the absence of Pavlyuchenko, who headed Russias only goal against Spain, would be yet another blow.

Greece are ready to go flat out for victory, said coach Otto Rehhagel.

The holders lost 2-0 to Sweden on Tuesday.

Rehhagel stayed silent on whether he would alter his five-man defence in favour of a three-pronged attack.

Apart from injured reserve goalkeeper Costas Halkias, all players took part in the training session yesterday.

Czech Rep v Turkey Sunday, 7.45, Geneva:The Czechs have been practising penalties while the Turks are talking rather fearlessly about the prospect of Group A's second quarter-final slot coming down to who is better at spot-kicks but both managers must decide if they are willing to give more attacking emphasis to their starting line-up in the hope of wrapping things up in 90 minutes.

The Czechs have never missed a penalty in European Championship knock-out stages shoot-outs but they have a knack of losing out to Uefa innovations - the "golden goal" in the 1996 final and the "silver goal at the semi-final stage four years ago.

The starting line-ups are expected to be unchanged from the ones that lost to Portugal and beat Switzerland respectively.

"We absolutely refuse to consider the possibility of going home after the group stages," says Czech centre-back Tomas Ujfalusi. "The Portugal match will give us self-confidence despite the loss." - EMMET MALONE
