THE prospect of Jurgen Klinsmann returning to England to end his career in the Premiership is one which several publicity-conscious clubs may well find difficult to ignore.
After several months of discord and disharmony, Klinsmann's club Bayern Munich announced yesterday that the German international striker would definitely be leaving in the summer. The news will not have passed without comment inside the boardrooms at Chelsea and Everton.
Klinsmann will celebrate his 33rd birthday in July and, mindful that a distinguished career will yield just one more lucrative transfer, he is now believed ready to hold talks with any interested party, irrespective of location or profile.
Last summer, when he was being actively courted by Everton, Klinsmann was seeking a weekly pay packet of £45,000 a week. With Bayern likely to demand a fee of £1.25 million and Klinsmann now looking for in excess of £50,000 a week, it will take a financial package of £3.5 million to keep him sweet for just one season.
