BOXING:David Joe Joyce and Patrick Harkin guaranteed themselves at least bronze following quarter-final wins in the European Cadet Championships in Siofok, Hungary, yesterday.

St Michael's Athy light-welter Joyce marched into the semi-finals following an emphatic points win over Slovakia's David Gazi.

And lightweight Harkin, of the Dunfanaghy club in Donegal, is also just two fights from gold, after he got a walkover against the Bulgarian Sergei Georgiev.

Joyce will meet the Russian Leven Audaylan today and Harkin faces Stephan Kurda from Belarus.

Conrad Cummins lost his quarter-final despite a brave showing against Estonia's Rodions Ippolitov.
