The Irish Junior women's basketball team emulated the achievement of their senior squad counterparts by winning the Four Countries Tournament in Cardiff over the weekend.

After Friday's win over Scotland, Ireland made sure of overall success by easily defeating England 84-51 on Saturday before wrapping up the Triple Crown with a 93-44 win over Wales.

The poor organisation of the event, though, detracted significantly from the joy of the Irish girls as last year's winners, England, failed to return the trophy.

Ireland's junior men had to be content with second place in their four-countries tournament in Aberdeen after losing to the overall winners, England 81-72 which was their only defeat over the weekend.
