HOME Farm Everton will announce their new manager this evening with Dermot Keely and Noel King, both members of Home Farm's FAI Cup winning team 21 years ago, the names at the top of the list.

The club has paid tribute to former manager Martin Bayly, dismissed on Thursday, thanking him and his assistant, Austin Brady, for their efforts in guiding the club to promotion last season. "Sentiment, however, has little room in the harsh world of top flight football and . . . we now embark on the latest chapter in this club's illustrious history," the club's programme editorial added.

It should have been a winning new beginning under caretaker boss Liam Touhy as Home Farm dominated Dundalk, particularly in a surprisingly one sided first half, without finding the net.

And though they hit the Dundalk woodwork three times before the interval through Gary Sliney, Owen Heary and Ray Duffy, they needed their own crossbar, which kept out a Joe Gallen header, and a brave save by Brian O'Shea from Ian Nesbitt to prevent a deceptive scoreline at half time.

Dundalk came into the game in a more evenly contested second half but it was Home Farm who should have won it with two further clear cut chances.

Ricky McEvoy turned delightfully to shoot wide from the edge of the box following Liam Kelly's knock down on 56 minutes before setting up Trevor Vaughan for the miss of the match 12 minutes later.
