Teenager Fiona Healy produced the killer punch that sent Leinster to victory at Portstewart yesterday as the holders retained the AIB Women's Interprovincial Championship for a seventh season.

It was an amazing fightback by Leinster. They lost the foursomes 2 1/2 to 1/2 and were behind in three singles and level in two at the turn.

However things took a dramatic turn on the homeward run.

After wins for Rebecca Coakley, Yvonne Cassidy, Jennie Gannon and Keane it was down to the last match between Fiona Healy and Sonya Verschur. After 17 holes Healy and Verschuur were all square but Verschur got a flier over the home green and after pitching to 10 feet she three-putted.

Teenager Healy showed nerves of steel as she lagged her first putt from 25 yards to less than three feet and holed out for a one hole win and overall victory for Leinster.

Munster took third place with a six matches to four win over Connacht after taking the foursomes 2-1.
