Galway v Clare, Pearse Stadium, 1.45
Subdued campaigns by both teams although Clare's extensive injury list has been an issue. Since edging closer to full strength they've been more impressive. Galway are trying to refresh an ageing collective and in the toughest matches haven't managed to dominate as opposed to contesting. Verdict: Clare

Limerick v Offaly, TUS Gaelic Grounds, 1.45
Limerick's turnaround has taken longer than last year and they now face the must-win fixture – which presumably they will. Verdict: Limerick

Wexford v Cork, Chadwicks Wexford Park, 1.45
This would have been a good test of both teams but for its status as a dead rubber undermining the quality of the challenge. Cork have been very impressive and can take the spoils in this one, even though both have qualified for the semi-finals. Verdict: Cork

DIVISION 1B
Kilkenny v Waterford, UC Nowlan Park, 1.45 – Live, TG4
There is something at stake here because even if Waterford are as good as in the semi-finals, Kilkenny will probably need to take something. Both counties have attracted positive notices – Waterford with their deepening panel options and Kilkenny with the quality of their own newcomers, like David Blanchfield, who has counterattacked well but balanced it with good defence. Brian Cody's team need a point to ensure progress to continue stress testing his team. Waterford have Ballygunner players returning but word is that they'll wait longer for Jamie Barron and Calum Lyons. Even so, they're the top division's leading scorers. Verdict: Waterford

Laois v Dublin, MW Hire O'Moore Park, 1.45
Dublin's chances of making the semi-finals are not particularly long odds but they have reason to be wary of Laois, even if Séamus Plunkett's team is affected by injury. They did preserve their status by beating Antrim and will give this a lash. Dublin's inaccuracy against Kilkenny meant their challenge was effectively still born. Expect a response. Verdict: Dublin

Tipperary v Antrim, FBD Semple Stadium, 1.45
Even Tipperary could qualify if Dublin and Kilkenny lose. Antrim will be disappointed by the Laois defeat, as Darren Gleeson brings them to Thurles but they'll also have a playoff on their minds. Verdict: Tipperary
