Henry Shefflin joins RTÉ as hurling analyst

10-time All-Ireland winner will work on both television and radio

Kilkenny hurling legend Henry Shefflin has signed a deal with RTÉ as a panellist for the stations's hurling coverage on both television and radio.

The 10-time All-Ireland winner will join the panel on the Sunday Game on RTÉ2 and also contribute to RTÉ Radio 1’s Sunday Sport throughout the Championship.

“I grew up watching the Sunday Game so it’s a real thrill to be joining the renowned team of panellists this summer and I’m excited to be a part of RTÉ Sport’s team covering the All Ireland Hurling Championship on both television and radio,” said the 36-year-old, who announced his retirement from hurling after Ballyhale Shamrocks won the All-Ireland club title.

RTÉ group head of sport Ryle Nugent said: "I'm delighted to welcome a true legend of the game in Henry Shefflin to our already stellar line-up of panellists across our comprehensive GAA Championship coverage. I'm sure Henry will engage brilliantly with RTÉ audiences who continue to look to RTÉ for the best analysis across the summer of Championship action."
