Grogan’s class proves crucial for Aherlow

Tipp star hits three late points to pip brave JK Brackens in semi-final thriller

AHERLOW GAELS 0-12 JK BRACKENS 1-8: Three late points from county star Barry Grogan rescued Aherlow Gaels from a shock defeat against JK Brackens in yesterday's Tipperary senior football championship semi-final at Leahy Park, Cashel.

With just minutes remaining, Brackens were in sight of victory as, helped by Cathal Scully’s goal after 28 minutes, they led by 1-8 to 0-9.

But Grogan slotted over two points from play and a free deep in stoppage time to send Aherlow Gaels through to a final showdown with Loughmore-Castleiney on Sunday week, November 3rd.

In a hard-hitting clash, both sides finished the game with 14 men. Aherlow's Séamus Grogan was dismissed for a second bookable offence in the 41st minute while JK Brackens lost Brendan Guidera to a second yellow card too.
