Dublin dual star Conal Keaney has retired from inter-county hurling.
After recently winning the All-Ireland senior football club championship with Ballyboden St Enda’s the 33-year-old has decided it’s time to hang up his boots due to family and business commitments.
This morning he confirmed the news, via Twitter, that he has informed manager Ger Cunningham and the staff that he won’t be returning to the Dublin panel for 2016.
Keaney made his debut for the Dublin hurlers in2003 before turning his focus to football.
In seven season he claimed one National Football League title and five Leinster titles.
Then, in 2011, he swapped the footballing panel for the Dublin hurling panel with a Liam McCarthy Cup in his sights.
In the same year he won a National Hurling League title before helping the Dubs to the Leinster title in 2013.
Within Ballyboden, he is a dual star legend. There have been a stack of hurling titles and currently reigns supreme, as an All-Ireland champion, with the footballers.
“I have informed Dublin Hurling Management that I will not be playing in 2016 #retirement Wishing all players the best of luck #Dubs4Liam16,” he tweeted this morning.
