Kildare through to Leinster final

UNDER-21 FC: Kildare are in the Leinster final after a 0-14 to 1-4 victory over Carlow in Newbridge at the weekend.

Guided by Glenn Ryan, Kildare overcame a poor opening-half display to qualify for a final place against Wexford in a game scheduled for Wexford Park next weekend.

Carlow led 0-4 to 0-2 at half-time, but Kildare made a storming start to the second period - scoring four points inside the first five minutes.

Carlow's John Amond got the game's only goal but it came near the end when Kildare held a nine-point advantage.

Carlow's minors beat Offaly again

MINOR HC: Carlow may have shocked Offaly by winning their Leinster championship match 2-13 to 1-9 at Dr Cullen Park on Saturday, but the merit of their win cannot be denied.

Carlow dominated for long periods and led 0-7 to 0-3 at the interval. Offaly claimed a goal in the 41st minute through Thomas Carroll, but Carlow made certain of victory with a 56th-minute goal from James Doyle.

"We are pleased, but we can do a lot better," said Carlow manager Maurice Power afterwards. Offaly must now face Leinster champions Dublin.

Cork win election away but lose battle at home

CAMOGIE: Cork native Joan O'Flynn was voted in as the president-elect at the weekend's Camogie Annual Congress in Athlone.

O'Flynn defeated Antrim's Catherine O'Hara in a vote to replace the current president, Liz Howard, who will step down next year.

O'Flynn started her career at the Fr O'Neill's club in east Cork, before becoming a member of the London-Irish Camogie Club. Since moving to Kildare she has immersed herself in the game and has administration experience at county, provincial and national level.

CAMOGIE: Kilkenny edged Cork 0-7 to 1-3 in terrible conditions at Páirc Uí Rinn yesterday to qualify for the league final against Galway.

The other game in Division One saw Wexford defeat Dublin on a scoreline of 1-15 to 2-4. It was a positive performance from a Wexford side who had returned from a break in Orlando just three days earlier.

Derry (who defeated Tipperary 3-13 to 1-3) and Clare (who beat Waterford 6-9 to 3-5) will meet in the Division Two final.

MINOR FC: Kilkenny were no match for Wexford's sharp forwards on Saturday, with the visitors winning 2-19 to 1-4 in the Leinster championship game at Nowlan Park.

UNDER-21 FC: Roscommon staged a thrilling second half to overhaul Sligo, 1-11 to 1-9, in the Connacht semi-final at Kiltoom.

Sligo deservedly led 1-7 to 0-5 at half-time with the goal coming from Eoin McHugh. And Roscommon's lingering hopes seemed to have gone when Conor Devaney was sent off early in the second half.

But the home team dominated the rest of the match, with Donie Shine setting up Enda Kenny for a terrific equalising goal midway through the second half. Roscommon will now meet Mayo in the final in Kiltoom on Wednesday week.

NHL: Goalkeeper John Devlin was the unlikely hero of Tyrone's 1-12 to 2-6 Division Three win over Longford at Tattyreagh.

Devlin came on at corner forward, and hit three points before setting up a winning goal for David Lavery. It was a great comeback by Tyrone, who were behind, 2-5 to 0-3, at half-time.
