The Kerry selectors gave a clear indication that the rift between manager Paidi O Se and Maurice Fitzgerald is over by naming Fitzgerald at centre forward on the team to play Dublin in the National Football League in Killarney on Sunday.
Fitzgerald refused to travel for the game against Roscommon on February 25th when he was dropped to the substitutes' bench after starting Kerry's previous game, against Offaly.
Fitzgerald's decision led to rumours that he was retiring from football and reopened the debate that raged during last year's championship when O Se opted to use Fitzgerald throughout as a substitute. However, the two men thrashed out their differences with O Se acknowledging his regret at not talking to Fitzgerald before leaving him out of the team for the Roscommon match.
Overall, Kerry have named a strong team with 11 of their All-Ireland winning team. Tom O'Sullivan, Noel Kennelly (who are in the substitutes), Liam Hassett and John Crowley, who is receiving treatment for an injury, are the absentees and they are replaced by Fitzgerald, Kieran Scanlon, Denis O'Dwyer and Billy Sheehan.
Meanwhile, Monaghan has become the latest county to be affected by the foot-and-mouth exclusion zone in north Louth. County chairman Gary Carville issued the guidelines after consultation with officials from the Department of Agriculture.
Restrictions have been placed on two clubs which border Louth - Inniskeen and Killany. This means that players from the clubs cannot play or train until 30 days have elapsed since the outbreak in Proleek.
People from both clubs are asked not to attend games or GAA meetings until the crisis has passed.
