Darren Bent, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Charles NZogbia could return but Ashley Westwood is out for Villa. Ipswich’s leading scorer, DJ Campbell, has returned to QPR so Michael Chopra will come in. Loanees Stephen Henderson and Bradley Orr are not allowed play.

Tottenham v Coventry

White Hart Lane, Today, 3.pm

Left back Benoit Assou-Ekotto looks set to make his first Tottenham appearance in four months and Scott Parker his first start of the season as Spurs look to rotate their squad. Coventry will be without leading scorer David McGoldrick after his loan ended.

Macclesfield v Cardiff

Moss Rose, Today, 3pm

Ryan Jackson is suspended for the home side, while striker Matthew Barnes-Homer is a major doubt. Cardiff could rest their entire first-choice XI, with Stephen McPhail, who has not featured since the first day of the season, possibly returning.

Crawley v Reading

New Crawley striker Lateef Elford-Alliyu could be involved following his move from Bury but defenders Claude Davis (knee) and Kyle McFadzean (virus) remain absent. For Reading, Jason Roberts has recovered from a hip problem, while Nicky Shorey has overcome a virus.

Wednesday will be without the suspended midfielder Jeremy Helan, while goalkeeper Stephen Bywater is also hoping to return in place of Chris Kirkland. Forward Dean Bowditch (groin) looks set to join MK Dons’ long list of absentees.

Derby will check on the fitness of Craig Bryson , Gareth Roberts and Jamie Ward . Tranmere’s captain James Wallace is still out, while Cole Stockton hopes to start instead of top scorer Jake Cassidy who has returned to Wolves after his loan spell finished.

Brighton’s Will Buckley and Bruno are likely to be unavailable, while Vicente is still not fit. Newcastle’s Cheick Tiote has left for the African Nations, while Steven Taylor, Yohan Cabaye, Ryan Taylor, Ben Arfa, Jonas Gutierrez, Dan Gosling and Haris Vuckic are all out.

Hull right back Ahmed Elmohamady is unlikely to return, while Steve Bruce may be tempted to rest Sone Aluko and Robert Koren. Alex Bruce and Paul McShane are pushing for recalls. Orient will check on top scorer Kevin Lisbie (shoulder).

Danny Shittu and Adam Smith are available for Millwall but Andy Keogh (broken toe) look set to miss out again along with skipper Paul Robinson (pelvis). Bailey Wright could join fellow defenders Paul Huntington, Scott Laird and Keith Keane on the sidelines for Preston.

Leicester winger Ben Marshall is nursing a knock, while the on-loan Jesse Lingard has returned to Manchester United but fellow Old Trafford youngster Michael Keane has extended his loan stay. Burton could be without defender Anthony O’Connor (hamstring).

David Dunn, Mauro Formica, Fabio Nunes, goalkeeper Paul Robinson and Gael Givet are missing for Rovers but Simon Vukcevic is back. Neil Danns has returned to parent club Leicester and loanee Stephen McManus is not allowed to play. Stephen Pearson is missing through injury.

Southend will be without midfielder Tamika Mkandawire, who has returned to parent club Millwall. Watford loanee Rob Kiernan has gone back to Wigan, but loanees Marcello Trotta, Jake Bidwell and Tom Adeyemi are all available to play.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero (hamstring) and Mario Balotelli (virus)will miss out. Samir Nasri is suspended, while Yaya and Kolo Toure are on international duty. Fitz Hall will miss the trip, while Manuel Almunia and Almen Abdi are both doubts.

Leon Cort and Lawrie Wilson are the latest additions to Charlton’s casualty list, while striker Danny Haynes is out with a hamstring problem. Jermaine Beckford is expected to return for Huddersfield, while James Vaughan, on loan from Norwich, has also been cleared to feature.

Middlesbrough will be without no fewer than 13 senior players, including Jonathan Woodgate and Scott McDonald. Hastings player-manager Sean Ray has a near full squad to choose from, but there is a concern over goalkeeper Matt Armstrong-Ford.
