NEXT month's Cork Kerry National Football League final will take place at Pairc Ui Chaoimh, Cork. The expected decision was reached at last night's first meeting of the new Games Administration Committee in Croke Park.
Cork and Kerry have a longstanding agreement to alternate League matches once they reach the knockout stages. This year would have been Kerry's turn to host the final but repairs to Fitzgerald Stadium have ruled out the Killarney venue and Stack Park Tralee, isn't big enough.
The final will be an all ticket affair with an unusually low safety limit set at 30,000 because ground improvements to the Pairc Ui Chaoimh safety barriers is in progress. A safety inspection within the last few days has set the crowd limit.
The referee will be announced in the next few days. Croke Park have also asked members of the public to be on the alert against bogus sellers of tickets to the headquarters ground.
It has been brought to the attention of the GAA authorities that a person, purporting to represent the GAA, has been approaching people in the Ashbourne area offering for sale season tickets to Croke Park, for all matches that are not all ticket.
Last night's GAC meeting did not consider the case of Tyrone's Pascal Canavan who was sent of in the relegation play off against Cavan on April 6th. It was Cariavan's second sending off for a similar offence in two years - he was dismissed in the Ulster semi final in June 1995 - but he has been given the option of appearing before the committee in person.
Were he to receive a full suspension of two months, he would have to miss the Ulster preliminary round match against Down on May 18th.
