Cavan come good

Cavan...3-12 Armagh...0-8:  Cavan finally ended their poor run in Division Two B with a comprehensive win over Armagh at Kinspan Breffni Park yesterday.

The pre-match consensus was that this was going to be a supreme test for a Cavan side endeavouring to end their three-match losing sequence.

However, they dominated for the most part and rarely allowed Armagh any opportunity to make a real impact.

Cavan manager Eamon Coleman expressed his delight at achieving their first win in the competition - however he said that all through the campaign he had felt the forwards were capable of beating any defence and it was only a matter of time before they hit form.

How right he was.

Cavan were well on the road to victory when they led by 0-9 to 0-3 at half-time; however the best was yet to come.

Two minutes into the second half Finbar Reilly scored a spectacular goal and at that stage the points were secured; but Cavan were by no means finished and six minutes later it was Jason Reilly's turn to find the net.

As the fans headed for the exits, Cavan finished on a high note with their third goal and Finbar O'Reilly's second.
