Waterford SHC Final replayMount Sion 1-14 Ballygunner 1-10 Mount Sion retained their Waterford senior hurling title in the replayed final against Ballygunner at Walsh Park on Saturday, in a much more entertaining match than the draw six days earlier.
It was the winners' 33rd championship triumph.
The foundations for victory were laid in the half-back line, where Tony Browne in the centre was outstanding.
Ballygunner led 1-7 to 0-8 at the interval, the goal coming from Shane O'Sullivan on 17 minutes. Mount Sion took command after the resumption, shooting four points and an Eoin McGrath goal before Paul Flynn replied for the losers four minutes from the end of normal time.
He sent over three points before the final whistle but Ken McGrath and Eoin Kelly were on target at the other to ensure victory.
