St Mary's, Drogheda, playing at this level for the first time accounted for namesakes, St Mary's, Dundalk, in their first round Leinster Senior Schools Cup match at Ardee RFC yesterday afternoon.

The winners opened brightly with hooker, Ivan Dunne driving them forward leading to the opening score from fullback Niall Kirby which Andy Tallon successfully kicked.

St Mary's, Drogheda, had their Louth neighbours in trouble whenever their backs got their hands on the ball and Eoghan Winters touched down for a second try with out-half Tallon again successful with the conversion.

The Dundalk team halved the gap before the break with a well worked move ending with Ciaran Boylan's touch down and Ronan Woods conversion.
