ALL-IRELAND LEAGUE/Shannon...37 Lansdowne...15: Shannon, the dominant team of the 1990s, are very much back on course to re-exert their supremacy on the AIB All-Ireland League if Saturday's runaway victory over an admittedly very poor Lansdowne side at Thomond Park is a reliable yardstick.
They scored six magnificent tries in a 37-15 demolition of the Dublin side and, of course, picked up a bonus point that enabled them to regain their top of the table spot at the expense of Limerick neighbours Garryowen.
Shannon scored two of their tries in the first half through the excellent John Lacey and Maurice Lawler and they led 15-8 at the interval.
