Sir, – In "Taoiseach refuses to repeat pledge to end trolley crisis" (December 29th), Harry McGee quotes the following comment on our health service: "Much of it is haphazard, has grown up over the years in bits and pieces and much of it needs to be changed and reinvested in to make it fit for 21st-century service."
One might reasonably think that these are the words of a bemused bystander. In fact they were uttered by the man who, I am told, has led our Government for almost five years. – Yours, etc,
