The Armada Table

Sir, – The 16th-century Armada Table, described by the Knight of Glin as “one of the most important and earliest pieces of Irish furniture”, has been removed from Bunratty Castle and sent to Drogheda to be sold (News, September 13th). Where is the hue and cry? Have we become so inured to this parade of our heritage through the sales rooms that it raises no more than a collective shrug?

It is imperative that the Minister for the Arts acts to save the Armada Table for the nation and in particular for the people of Co Clare. – Yours, etc,

ERICA DEVINE,

Bray,

Co Wicklow.
