Sir, - Mr John Marnane has done you a service by pointing out that your picture on March 25th depicted a catapult and not a sling but he ended by slightly spoiling the correction when he mentioned "a catapult to fire pellets of paper".
He reminded me of a film shown about three years ago by RTE, which depicted King David exhorting his archers to "keep on firing!" Arms were not fired until gunpowder came along, when the soldier gave it fire from a smouldering match. - Yours, etc
