Sir, – I refer to Peadar MacMaghnais’s letter (December 1st), in which he writes that it would have been reasonable to expect that the Minister for Health Dr James Reilly would have publicly congratulated Dr Farima Hamroush and wished her well in her new role as minister for health in Libya.

Indeed it would and indeed he did! Dr Reilly met Dr Hamroush in his office on November 25th and offered her every good wish in her new role. A report of the meeting was published on the Department of Health’s Press and Communications Office webpage at http://healthupdate.gov.ie under “Latest News”. – Yours, etc,

MARK COSTIGAN,

Ministerial Press Advisor,

Department of Health,

Dublin 2.
